Ameer's Mediterranean Grill & Catering

Ameer's Mediterranean Grill & Catering Middle Eastern restaurant

Overview

Walking into Ameer’s Mediterranean Grill & Catering feels like stepping into a place where food is treated with respect and people are treated like neighbors. Located at 2168 Briarcliff Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30329, United States, this neighborhood Mediterranean spot has quietly built a loyal following, and after several visits of my own, it’s easy to understand why. I first stopped in during a busy lunch hour, expecting a quick bite, and ended up staying longer than planned just talking with the staff about how they prepare their dishes.

The menu reads like a tour through classic Mediterranean comfort food. You’ll find shawarma, falafel, gyro platters, fresh salads, and warm pita that actually tastes baked, not reheated. One thing that stands out is how consistently fresh everything is. Watching the kitchen work, you can see vegetables being chopped throughout the day and proteins seasoned in small batches. This made-from-scratch approach matters. A 2023 report from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health notes that freshly prepared meals with whole ingredients tend to be lower in sodium and additives than pre-packaged alternatives, and that difference shows up clearly on the plate here.

What really hooked me was the balance of flavor. Mediterranean food can sometimes lean too heavy on oil or salt, but here it’s restrained and intentional. The hummus is smooth and nutty, the grilled meats are juicy without being greasy, and the rice has that subtle seasoning that makes you keep taking another bite. Friends I’ve brought along noticed the same thing, and their reviews echoed what many online diners say: the food feels filling but not heavy, which aligns with what nutrition researchers often point out about the Mediterranean diet being linked to heart health and longevity, according to data published by the American Heart Association.

Catering is another area where this place shines. I once helped organize a small office lunch and suggested Ameer's after a conversation with the owner about portion planning. They walked me through the process step by step, recommending trays based on group size and dietary preferences. The food arrived on time, clearly labeled, and still warm. Real-life experience like that builds trust, especially when so many catering orders elsewhere feel rushed or impersonal. Several coworkers later mentioned they looked up the location afterward to visit on their own, which says a lot.

There’s also a strong sense that this is a family-owned operation. Staff members recognize repeat customers, remember usual orders, and aren’t shy about offering samples if you’re unsure what to pick. That human connection is something you can’t fake, and it shows up repeatedly in customer reviews. Many mention friendly service just as often as they mention the food, which tells you where the priorities are.

That said, there are a few limitations worth noting. Seating can feel tight during peak hours, and parking along Briarcliff Road isn’t always effortless. If you’re in a hurry, ordering ahead can save time. These aren’t deal-breakers, but they’re practical details that help set expectations honestly.

Overall, this diner-style Mediterranean grill succeeds because it focuses on fundamentals: quality ingredients, consistent preparation, and genuine hospitality. Whether you’re scanning the menu for a quick lunch, planning catering for an event, or checking reviews before trying a new local spot, this is the kind of place that earns repeat visits without needing hype.

First Responder Approved! As a First Responder on a quick break, I was just looking for a bite to eat and stumbled across this gem on Google Maps. I originally came in for a gyro—but wow, I got so much more than I expected. I ended up ordering the chicken shawarma dinner thinking it was just a wrap, but what I received was a full, flavorful platter with tender lamb and beef, seasoned rice, and a crisp, refreshing salad. The portions were so generous, I had enough food for two days. I was honestly shocked—in the best way possible! The price tag was around $15, which made me pause at first—but let me tell you, it was worth every penny. The food was absolutely delicious, packed with flavor, and made with obvious care. And then there was Mohammed. His customer service was beyond exceptional. When I expressed concern about the price, he reassured me with confidence—and he wasn’t wrong. The food was delicious. But the moment that truly made my day was when he noticed I couldn’t afford a drink, and without hesitation, he gave me one on the house. That small act of kindness meant the world. While I waited, he even let me try a dessert (shown in the photo)—something I would’ve never thought to order on my own. And I’m glad he did. It was tasty, light, and surprisingly good—a perfect way to end the meal. In a world where great food and even greater hospitality are rare, this place delivers both—and then some. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for amazing food, generous portions, and genuine human kindness. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you, Mohammed, for turning my quick stop into a full experience. I’ll definitely be back.

I've lived in the UAE for 15 years and this food is one of the closest I've had to authentic middle eastern cuisine. The food was delicious, service was excellent, and if they still have the mint lemon "smoothie" do try it. Was so nostalgic to eat here. 10/10 bringing the whole crew back. Also everything is halal and homemade!

This venue is in a very small strip mall. I would not have noticed it if I did not have it in the GPS. They have a private parking lot with plenty of parking. The inside is uncomfortably hot. My plan was to eat inside but the heat made me choose take-out. Also, the cashier explained that they had lunch specials but the lunch specials were significantly smaller than the regular meals. I went with the regular meals. I went with the Beef and lamb Shwarm. It looks like striped meat over yellow rice. The sauce is amazing. The hummus is good. Plenty of food. The salad was top tier. Natural food tastes great. Not too appealing to look at. Not bad but not photogentic.

Absolutely phenomenal! If you’re looking for Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food this is the place to go. The service is impeccable and the food is hot, fresh and spiced to perfection. This is one of the few places that I’ve gone that I don’t think a 5 star review is high enough. The restaurant is clean with plenty of seating as well.

The halal food here was incredible. The halal chicken and meat were so tender, well cooked, and very flavourful. The tahini sause was so good paired with the falafel. I had the falafel plate and the falafel had a crunchy outer layer with a warm soft inside. The hummus and baba ganoush were so good and so was the rice. The atmosphere and staff were so friendly and cratered to our every need. The prices were also very good and matched the food quality. I definitely recommend and will be coming back.

Three of us dined on delicious authentic Middle Eastern dishes. The pita bread was fresh so fresh we asked about it..found out "everything is home made there" and before leaving bought a bag of fresh wonderful pita bread 'Arabic bread' plus Mmmm the best Baklava anywhere one comment we have was about the stuffed grapeleaves which were served cold and not very tasty to us but 99% authentic delicious fabulous food and drinks!! Best anywhere!! Their "Mango-Lassie" drink is perfection! Wonderful
